It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Damian Newell this month, as he and his family embark on a new journey abroad. Damian has been an integral part of GAEL Group since its inception four years ago and we celebrated with a staff-wide breakfast outing to ‘toast’ his time with us. His vision, dedication, and expertise have played an instrumental role in shaping the success and growth we have achieved today. Although his absence will undoubtedly be felt deeply by all those who had the privilege to work with him, we are immensely grateful for Damians monumental contributions throughout his time at GAEL, and wish him the utmost success as he begins this exciting new chapter in his life.

Taking time out from her UWC vacation week, Duné was able to spend time observing and participating in Compliance for alternative fund administration, giving her a newfound appreciation for the industry as well as valuable insights into potential career paths in this field.

#TeamGAEL surprised father and son duo, Tony and Andrew, on Monday with a surprise baby shower at our offices in Cape Town.

Andrew, Business Solutions & Compliance Officer, is expecting his second child (first girl) early next month, and this will be the fifth grandchild for Tony (Director).

The Company, a Recognised Fund Administrator in terms of Article 9A of the Investment Services Act, is a subsidiary of GAEL Group (Pty) Ltd which acts as a holding company for a financial service provider and other subsidiary companies registered in South Africa. The set-up of GAEL Malta creates the opportunity to administer fund structures domiciled in Malta, British Virgin Islands, Cayman and Mauritius for the Group’s existing client base, but also for prospective clients considering fund structures outside of South Africa.

Fund Managers have the opportunity to set up funds in a reputable EU jurisdiction that is cost effective and flexible. SAME Coronavirus Assistance, New Resources

With the third wave of the Global Coronavirus Pandemic ramping up across the country, the SAME Foundation is assisting the South African Health Department with lifesaving medical equipment to reduce the impending impact of the disease.

As a proud donor to the SAME Foundation, GAEL GROUP has assisted to equip our doctors and nurses serving on the front lines with the resources they need to fight this pandemic, such as OxERA (Oxygen Efficient Respiratory Aid). Designed specifically for the treatment of Covid infected patients, this oxygen therapy device is critical in combating the shortage of oxygen supply at our hospitals.

ENDEAVOR HARVEST FUND II PARTNERSHIP

GAEL Fund Services (Pty) Ltd (“GAEL”) has been selected by Harvest Venture Capital Company (Pty) Ltd as the fund administrator for the Endeavor Harvest Fund II Partnership.

Harvest Fund II will be a rules-based venture capital fund and will invest alongside credible lead investors into SA Endeavor Entrepreneurs to deliver strong financial returns and drive job creation and innovation in South Africa.

GAEL on track and moving forward

Although COVID-19 has become a challenge facing businesses worldwide, GAEL employees have been successfully working remotely since March. Company growth has not been affected by this change, as The Group welcomed two new employees earlier this month. Lelanie van Reenen and Chelsea Edwards join the ‘virtual team’ as Senior Fund Setup Specialist and Cash Management/Investor Services Administrator respectively.

As recently reported in HedgeNews Africa, GAEL Fund Services has been granted its FSP licence for intermediary services by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority.
